Position Description

Job Title: School Janitor

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Full-Time, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Reporting Functions : Reports to the Director of Maintenance

Job Function: The janitor is responsible for set-up/tear down for events, and keeping the school buildings properly maintained and cleaned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assure that classrooms, bathrooms, offices, and public spaces are clean and orderly.

• Assist with set up/ take down for events on the property.

• Replenish supplies including toilet paper, hand towels, soap, etc.

• Cleaning to include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, responding to custodial emergencies, etc.

• Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

Educational Requirements:

• High School diploma preferred.

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively

• Must exhibit a high degree of integrity, loyalty, and dependability and have a strong work ethic.

• Ability to work independently and demonstrate competence in all areas of responsibility.

• Ability to work with all staff members, co-workers in a professional manner.

• Must have transportation and ability to obtain clearances.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, kneeling, pivoting, carrying and crawling; carrying, pushing and/or pulling; going up and down ladders and flights of steps frequently; climbing and lifting. The employee must frequently and safely lift and/or move items 50- 100 pounds.

Working Conditions: Indoor and outdoor exposure; School environment. Full-time position; Monday through Friday; 8:30 AM- 3:30 PM
